The sickness is gone! Woo hoo! I still felt pretty funky this morning, so I filled my water bottle with apple juice before I went to school. By lunch, I was feeling fine! PRAISE THE LORD. I hate being sick away from home.
After class today, MLSA provided us with another cultural activity by taking us to the National Museum. It was a small museum that had a few display cases containing ancient artifacts and a creepy dungeon that smelled weird. My friends and I stayed for well... about 20 minutes, then we walked down the street to go shopping! Typical girls, right? But when are we ever going to need to know anything about the history of Costa Rica? I don't ever plan to be on Jeopardy. When it was time to get back on the bus, it was pouring down rain. Naturally. To get back to the bus, we had to walk about a block. We were told to leave our backpacks on the bus, and it just so happened that my umbrella was in my backpack. ON THE BUS. Luckily, I did think ahead enough to carry my rain jacket, but that still didn't keep me from getting drenched! :)
I was thinking today about how there are so many little things in life that I take for granted. Take toilet paper, for instance. Most, if not all, of the public restrooms here always seem to be missing toilet paper when you need it the most. Luckily, I was warned to carry some with me wherever I go, so I have not had the unfortunate experience of being stranded on a toilet without any. But, really. Who ever thinks to appreciate toilet paper? Not me. So the next time you see a roll of toilet paper, be thankful. :)
Another thing I've taken for granted is air conditioning. And the reason why is not because it's hot here, because it's not THAT hot. The reason why is because I like the "luxury" of being able to close my windows, because closing the windows helps eliminate the harshness of outside noises! I have come to learn that San Jose is a LOUD city. Amy, Hannah, and I started a list of all the crazy noises we have been hearing every night. I used to think I could sleep through anything, but not anymore! Haha!
Oh, what an adventure! :)
Glad that you had your new rain jacket and those little rolls of hunter's toilet paper, right? Better to be safe (and prepared) than sorry, that's what I always say. I am so glad that you are feeling better. Love you!
ReplyDeleteI, too, am very thankful for t.p. Especially the soft kind that we have in the United States!
ReplyDeleteI am also fond of air conditioning? Do you think we may be spoiled?
